Seasonal Marketing for Summer
Keeping your marketing fresh and creative can be a full-time job—especially if you aren’t implementing seasonal marketing. However, as long as you keep your mind open to ideas, you can create some great seasonal marketing strategies that keep people intrigued all year! So read on for some hot ideas for marketing for summer…
Seasonal Marketing for Summer
Incorporate Holidays
There are many holidays to choose from during the summer, including Memorial Day, Fathers Day, Juneteenth, and Independence Day. Most of these holidays are an excellent opportunity to reach out to a specific demographic within your target audience and offer them a special deal.
For example, military members and their families could receive a special discount for Memorial Day, there could be a silly photo contest for Fathers Day, or you can host a 4th of July or Juneteenth freebie giveaway!
There are a lot of ways to incorporate these national holidays into a seasonal marketing plan if you can think of how they fit into your niche and audience.
In addition to national holidays, there are tons of “appreciation days” you can also take advantage of to bring people together with your brand.
For example, if you are a restaurant owner or food-related company owner, you can use days like “National Donut Day” to make a fun post/announcement; or even have a special promotion.
Think of how 7/11 gas stations celebrate July 11th with that awesome small Slurpee giveaway! It’s not an “official” holiday, but they use their name and market to bring people in with some clever marketing for summer.
Use Summer Imagery/Emojis
When summertime rolls around, an easy way to incorporate seasonal marketing into your content is to use matching imagery and/or emojis. Try updating your website with a “summer theme” that flows with your brand. For example, if your brand has a mascot of some kind, try putting some sunglasses on them for the summer! You don’t have to rebrand completely; simply add some complimentary summer elements if possible.
You can also start adding more summer-themed emojis to your social media profiles and posts. Of course, you don’t want to overdo this, but when it’s relevant, adding a sunshine emoji to a post that makes sense can be a nice added touch. By keeping your content personable and up to date with the seasons, you are showing your audience that your brand is genuine and not just a flood of premade content with no soul behind it. Seasonal marketing shows you care about what is happening in your audience’s world.
Participate in Your Community
Summer can be a great opportunity to get involved in your community—locally or online. For example, the summer heat can be challenging for animal shelters to cope with. You can do a seasonal marketing campaign using this fact to spread awareness about your business and help your community. This could be as big as covering adoption fees up to a certain amount or offering a special discount code for people who donate to your selected shelter(s). We worked for a law firm that did something like this. They based it on won cases. It also brought a lot of business to their local shelter and made their firm’s reputation even stronger.
You can also collaborate with complimentary charities, businesses, and brands for a special summer sale/giveaway. When you work with other businesses and organizations, you are bringing their audience into your circle and yours into theirs. This is another excellent way to implement seasonal marketing. It can instantly double your audience, and share a little about your brand’s values.
